Voiceover: Modern life has become very expensive, and the speed at which everything changes and prices increase keeps growing Scene: An emirati lady in her mid 40’s sits inside a room/kitchen performing a household chore, her kids are around her, 2 boys and a girl of ages 12, 8 and 3. Two of the older kids are fighting over a toy while the toddler cries. Voiceover: Our parents were able to provide for their families with the labour of their hands. Now everything has changed. Scene: The woman is surrounded by hands handing her bills of all kinds (electric, grocery bills, water, etc). This stresses her out, and the chaos of unruly kids only makes it worse Voiceover: What am i to do? What can i do from home to improve my situation? Scene: a hand passes her the Fujairah Welfare association brochure with the logo clearly visible Male voiceover: But now there is something you can do not only to improve but to succeed. The Fujairah Welfare association provides training and vendor space for low income families who want to produce goods for sale. This includes products and services which include perfumery,home beauty salons, sewing, embroidery, handicrafts, traditional cuisine, making of honey, as well as a taxi service for email Scene: Various emirati women performing tasks such as making of perfume, decorating pottery, weaving baskets, cooking, producing honey. The distressed Emirati lady is seen doing the same and her mood changes to happy and hopeful Male Voiceover: The association began its work in 2004 with only just 2 families and has grown to include over 400 local families who were able to become successful producers and drastically improve their situation, and the number of those eager to join the program is growing rapidly. Voiceover: For me, I chose to learn how to bake sweets, and now I can make a wide variety of delicious desserts Scene: The woman is seen handing a box of sweets over to the customer and receiving money in exchange. She then smiles at the camera. Voiceover: Thank you Fujairah Welfare Association for making this possible for me and my family
