Hi There, Amazon EC2 is a good choice, amazon have all features so you don't have to be worry about scale / storage / slowness. but note that, if you are planning to use zPanel technology (Sentora) or any other free panel for saving some amount so i suggest don't. cPanel is better choice, just purchase its life time license from cheap provider. if you don't know i will assist you to get the one best. Well, first of all I already has experience configuring CPanel on cloud environment. If you can pay AWS so use it, it's the best choise if you need flexibility (change resources on-the-fly). I can also teach you how to use CloudFlare within CPanel, so you servers won't need to serve static content, and you'll see a lot difference on performance. Good Morning, You are at the right point in time. I have worked out many things with Amazon EC2 from autoscaling to automated deployments. Everything works seamlessly. Amazon EC2 is the best solution if you are looking for a complex batch of servers to be managed via the Interface. But indeed Amazon EC2 is quite different. You would get upto a 244GB RAM server at a vertical cost, (it is not exponential), proportional to what you would get with a 244 - 1GB(300MHz) Servers. So its your choice to choose in between using 1GB servers or 244GB - 32(x3GHz) Core servers. But as you expect, managing a server fleet is harder than using standard servers. Amazon also incorporates RDS, a separate for DB storage. and Absolutely amazing thing with amazon is that you can extend the storage as much as you need. HDDs are virtual and can be attached/detached to/from servers. I hope you would be fine with the description. I just stated all these to prove my experience in using AWS Stack. Generally, the divide between using cloud-based or dedicated infrastructure comes down to the classification of your workload. Use EC2 (or other cloud services) if: -Your workload's size changes drastically in an unpredictable or cyclical manner -You need near-instant expansion of resources Use traditional dedicated hardware if: -Your workload's size stays constant or changes in a predictable manner. -Waiting one to five days to deploy additional resources is reasonable AWS provides a service called beanstalk, which allows you to host "web applications" including websites in an elastic manner. However, beanstalk and other providers' PaaS offerings are not well suited to hosting a large quantity of mostly-static websites. I've never seen a cPanel installation on beanstalk. Beanstalk is built on a foundation of EC2 instances and S3 storage, so it isn't more cost effective than buying and using the resources directly; it only acts to simplify the process for specific types of workloads. This leaves one other option using cloud infrastructure--EC2 instances. These are far more expensive than dedicated resources of a similar scope, and would be used whether using beanstalk or not. Additionally, EC2 bandwidth is expensive--$0.09/GB outbound. I would recommend creating a strong dedicated infrastructure on a provider like OVH (cheap servers, unmetered, low-latency bandwidth), as your hosting scales predictably. Split the website workload amongst several dedicated boxes w/cPanel.

Hi there, This is just a preliminary bid I'm making. With the large number of customers you have it's very difficult to determine the actual costs/times involved. The thing is that there are a few tasks involved. Merely setting up cPanel in the cloud and getting your sites moved over to the EC2 instance is one thing. This can likely be done for about 6-700 USD relatively quickly. Where the bulk of the work would come in is testing the 2k customers sites (does each customer have one site, or many sites? another big factor) then performing configuration to make all these sites run. I really don't understand what some of the bids below are being based on, especially the time frames, because this task is an enormous amount of work for this many sites no matter how little traffic they get. So again while I've bid this on only a single milestone it's just to get the discussion going. I'm sure we can help you achieve your goals with a sophisticated cloud solution but some more information is needed to tighten up this bid and what we can offer you.
