I am a fashion photographer looking for a part time photo retoucher.

The job will consist mainly in the creation of invisible mannequin cut outs of fashion pieces over a white background for the fashion designer web site.

Requirements are high skills in photoshop retouch of clothes, broad band internet connection, high availability, adequately colour calibrated computer.

Skype communication and sending of big files or archives using Dropbox are recommended.

I will provide the pictures of the pieces on a white mannequin in Nikon raw format.

They must be colour calibrated using the shot of the calibration card and then raw adjusted to look clear and balanced. Colour fidelity is very important. A colour calibrated screen is mandatory.

The proportion of the final image must be 1000:1400 (or 5:7) and the output must be a jpg image in the original resolution and another jpg at 1000x1400 pixels. Apart from the layered tiff working file.

Each image must be cropped to centre the piece on a white background with adequate space between the piece and the margins. The images will be shown in a website with more cutouts so they have to be consistent with the previous images. All pieces of the same kind need to have the same proportional size (as an example, all jackets, sweaters or shirts) but the proportion is not the same for all pieces (skirts have a different proportion than jackets and long skirts have also a different proportion than medium and short skirts, but all long skirts must have the same proportion between them).

The idea is the user can compare pieces of the same kind and at the same time be able to see them as big as possible (it would be nonsense to have a long dress that fills all the image and then a belt at the same proportion because it would be tiny). If there are two pieces of the same kind but different lengths, they should be placed as if the invisible mannequin is at the same position in both pictures so, if you have a short skirt and another skirt longer, the waist would be at the same height but the bottom would be at a lower position in the picture of the longer skirt so the user can compare the difference when watching them side by side. Waist or shoulder span are good references to match the sizes.

All mayor creases, bumps, stains, fabric fails or camera ccd stains must be removed so the piece looks great. Of course, there are creases that are intended to be in the design so these ones are not to be removed. It will be shown at 1400x1000 pixels, so it doesn't need to be perfect but look perfect at that resolution. Some pieces are not the final ones but prototypes, so there can be pins or sews that have to be removed and also other modifications that need to be photoshopped.

Symetry is also important. The piece has to look vertical, both arms or legs in the same neutral position and at the same length. Sometimes one arm is good and the other looks bad so it may be possible to duplicate the good one but only if the flipping of the piece doesn't alter the texture (example, a piece made in a fabric with a marked diagonal texture or print). Symmetry of shoulders and necks is very important.

Once the piece is retouched, it must be cut out from the background to add the parts covered by the mannequin. Pictures of these parts are shot but they usually have to be strongly warped to match the position it should have if it were placed on an invisible mannequin. To separte the front part from the background part, a subtle shadow casted by the front part over the inside part can be added to show the hollowness of the piece. Front and back views of the same piece must be of the same size and placed at the same position in the picture and proportional to the other pieces of the same kind, as said before.
