This project is available for someone with a very deep understanding of WordPress. You must be up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques, and be engaged in the open source community, and enjoy building software that pushes the web forward. While WordPress is a PHP-based application, we, like WordPress, are continually moving towards working with Javascript and knowledge of Javascript (and as an additional bonus TypeScript) and the REST API is essential.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Own the development of the Syft website project
· Work closely with the Product Manager / UX/UI Designer to implement cutting edge design into the Wordpress driven templates to drive increasing user response
· Take an analytical approach to developing our website to streamline the user funnel and drive increasing engagement
· Manage the effective hosting of the Syft website
· Manage and implement best practice SEO practice to ensure the sites discoverability
· Implement tracking pixels
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
· Clear understanding of the WordPress core software and its functions at the code level
· Prior experience building and implementing WordPress themes
· An understanding of Analytics, it’s implementation and developing cutting edge design to positively influence engagement and conversion
· Custom WordPress coding and security best practices
· Demonstrable experience in using the WordPress REST API
· Deep understanding of SEO and onsite optimization within WordPress
· Experience in SQL and databases
· Hosting of websites and CDN
· Strong technical skills including understanding of software development principles
· Incredible attention to detail
· Great verbal and written communication skills
· Additional talents – PHP, CSS (CSS3), HTML (HTML5), MySql, Javascript and Git
· Laravel, jQuery, SASS and TypeScript experience is a bonus
· A history of open source software contribution is beneficial but not essential
up to £400 a day for an initial 2 months contract.
