Finding background positions via evolutionary algorithm

Constructed an Excel-based technique for finding the most suitable available background positions for a series of atomic emission spectra via the use of an evolutionary algorithm. Technique works on the assumption that the 'best' background locations are those which result in the best correlation between measured and expected elemental concentrations for a user-defined number of measured spectra. Resulting background locations can then be used to calculate elemental concentrations from spectra of samples with unknown concentrations.

关于我

I have a background in analytical chemistry, and outside of this site I largely work in areas relating to the development of new functionalities for ICP-OES and MP-AES instrumentation. I have excellent skills in data handling and manipulation, particularly relating to any aspect of instrumental chemistry. I personally complete all projects I am awarded, and never outsource any part of my work. I have experience in the creation of complex Excel formulas and VBA macros for data management, interpretation and reformatting, and can also help protect and unprotect/unlock Excel files. I am very familiar with verbal, numerical and logical reasoning aptitude tests from many providers, including CEB SHL, Kenexa, cut-e, Talent-Q, Cubiks, Pearson and others, and I am more than willing to provide assistance in this area. Feel free to contact me privately concerning any project which you feel I may be suited to!
