Hello!
Hello! My name is Woohyang. I write articles in Japanese and translate English and Korean into Japanese. I was born and grew up in Japan, but my Korean background gave me the opportunity to master the Korean language. I am also a near-native English speaker as I earned my Master of media and development study at the University of Sussex, UK.
Most of my translation experience has been in the fields of Art. I'm very interested in branching out into environmental issues, history, and culture.
I have 5 years experience of working at a newspaper company in Tokyo where I developed strong writing skills in Japanese. I'm also available for editing and proofreading. While I was working at the newspaper, I wrote a variety of columns, documentaries, advice, and restaurant reviews. I've also taken courses on Environmental Translation.
Some of my most notable projects include translations for the National Diet Library of Japan, an international arts festival, and the website for a famous "illumination" at Tokyo Station.
My Japanese to English translation experience:
-Articles about Japanese history and culture for National Diet Library (20 articles)
-An evaluation paper for an art event (20,000 Japanese characters, a joint translation)
-Artist statements for art design competitions (three artists)
-Research papers on a post-war modern artist (Two articles, 8,000 English words in total, a joint work)
