Before you read the problem description, please know that I am also a programmer, and I am looking for someone to pair-program with me to complete this project. I lack knowledge of Java + Swing (GUI Library), and therefore I could use someone's help as far as syntax, best practices, and how to do stuff with the Swing GUI Library. I also know the algorithms needed to complete the project, so please don't be intimidated by the problem statement.
Problem Statement:
Write a star map software program named StarMap in Java using Swing. The program should be similar in interface and functionality to programs such as Stellarium, but without its complexity. Read information about bright stars from a database file. Use this data to render a view of the night sky, based on the viewer’s position at a given date/time. Allow the user to pan about the star map by clicking and dragging with the mouse. Provide the option of displaying constellations.

Again, I know the algorithms needed to complete the project, but I don't know my way around Java + Swing. Right now I am at the point where I can read in the stars + constellations database, and print the stars in a JPanel.
Please reply with your expertise level in Java + Swing, how many years you have worked on each, and any other things you consider to be relevant.
The project needs to be done by Monday, November 24. Although it seems like a huge project, it really isn't.
