Move Images from Database to Filesystem

We currently have an ecom website [url removed, login to view] (custom coded)
However we are having issues with the site as the current code stores the inventory images into the database,
We would like to alter the site to move all of the images from the database to the filesystem
Due to there being hundreds of products we would like an automated conversion so that inventory will not be affected as having to re-upload / link all of the images would be very time consuming.
