Ok, SMDR is just phone tech talk for the info a call center spits out about the system, like which line is ringing, answered, call-id data, etc. It comes in from a COM port to the computer, I just need this put into a useful format. Here's how things go. When a call comes in, the "server/logger" sends an instant message over the internet to the computers logged in to the system, assigned as receptionists. a popup box will show which line is ringing, then the call-id information when it's available, usually after the first ring. this popup will query my mysql database to see if the number is recognized, if it is it displays the clients data, if not it'll link to an html page to enter new client data. if the client is recognized, the option exists to transfer the call to the appropriate sales person, who can accept/deny the call. if they accept, at the end of the call the program will insert the call duration into that clients data. if they decline a message pops up on the receptionists screen that allows them to take a message. an admin mode MUST exist to show the manager who is on what line, any calls that were not answered, etc. that's everything that comes to mind so far, i'm sure there might be small bits i didn't explain fully, but it seems to me to be a very simple program
