Export store catalogue to XML

I am running the store POS in an Icelandic proprietary system called DK ([login to view URL]) which runs on SOAP. I already have a php script that exports *all* products from the store into an XML document. That may be a good starting point to code from.
I need a script that can run on cron (doesn't need to be php) that exports only products that have been added to the system, or have been sold in the last 48 hours. I would also like to be able to edit the time (I may need to export for example last 7 days, instead of last 48 hours).
