▶ artist, designer & writer with music niche

▶ I am a graphic artist and illustrator with a music design niche. As a musician myself, I am specifically able to translate aural art into visual design. I have over 16 years of experience working for musicians, artists, bands, record companies & publications. I attended art school at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois where I received a B. A. in Media Arts with a double emphasis in photography digital video. Likewise, I minored in communications with an emphasis in media studies. While in Chicago, I created web graphic design for the university library digital collection, mentored with Rolling Stones photographer Paul Natkin & freelanced for the Chicago Red Eye newspaper. After moving to New York City, I worked primarily in marketing, sales, promotion, social media, & design including as an artist-in-residence for the Antagonist Art movement & as a co-assistant manager at New York School of Rock. I like to think of myself as vintage/ lo-fi in style.

The Traveling Salvation Show is a Neil Diamond tribute band that needed a word mark logo along with the slogan, “Diamond is forever.” They wanted something that resembled a motorcycle club jacket design..something that could be easily embroidered and also work in print and digital mediums. My initial idea was to create a logo similar to those actually used in traveling medicine shows common in the 19th century. I started with a Victorian headline/poster typeface with a shadow separated by a transparent stroke. To this word mark, I added a light flag and rise effect. Next I created the emblem that augmented the vintage/retro style with not only 1, but 2 distinct diamond shapes. The 5-point center diamond was embraced by 2 regal wings overlaying the 4-point diamond & a background retro sunburst. The slogan text was then curved above and below the center focal point. "Fantastic job with a winning design among an impressive field of concepts. Very easy and professional to with.&

Mystie is amazing! She has proved to be efficient, professional, talented, timely, and an excellent communicator and designer. She provided a thorough structure to help us define our project and created designs that matched our feedback and wishes. She kept us on track even though WE missed numerous deadlines and once we gave her the required information, turned it around almost immediately.
