Responsible for analysis of use cases, design, documentation, implementation, unit testing, and assisting with UI integration. - Designed and developed most of the server-side EJB components for the application, including many Stateless Session beans and Entity Beans. Entity Beans used Bean Managed Persistence (BMP) due to the complexity of the database model and using JDBC to persist to an Oracle 8i database. - Designed and developed the User Directory component which consisted of a EJB Stateless Session Bean persisting data to an iPlanet LDAP User Directory server. Also configured Netegrity Siteminder to utilize the LDAP to authenticate and authorize the users for security. - Used Junit for unit tests for all methods developed in all objects, compiling a large set of unit tests, making refactoring easier and lending confidence to the stability of each release. - Setup Ant XML scripts for build configuration. - Designed and developed bulk data loading utility, which parsed an XML file describing data objects and stored them in the database for historical analysis and reporting. Used Xerces XML DOM Parser in stand-alone java program to parse and transfer data via CORBA to server, which stored data in Oracle 8i database. - Used Borland Application Server 4.5.1 for EJB development, Resin 1.2.2 for JSP/Servlet Engine, Apache Web Server, Netegrity SiteMinder for Authentication/authorization and iPlanet LDAP Server for the User Directory, CVS and Bugzilla for release management and defect tracking. Acquired considerable experience in configuring and maintaining all of these 3rd party products. All products ran on Linux and/or Windows NT in development environment and Solaris in production and staging environments. - Design and development took place in a fast-pace OOA/OOD/OOP environment where interaction with the architect and UI teams were critical. Used modified for of Rational Unified Process for the development process, utilizing UML in Rational Rose to capture and communicate object models. Tivoli Systems, Austin, Texas (June 1998 - October 2000) Senior Software Engineer Availability Team - Assumed technical lead of a team of developers tasked with designing and developing new applications and maintaining legacy code. - Awarded "Most Valuable Player" for entire release of TEC 3.7, an 18 month project involving a new Java Swing GUI, a new server component, and many other functionality additions to the legacy product. - Designed and developed new multi-threaded server component in C/C++, using CORBA for client/server communication. - Designed new applications using UML and common design patterns, such as Proxy, Command, Factory, Model-View-Controller, etc. Primarily used Java to develop new applications (both model and view), but used C/C++ where appropriate. Used CMVC for release management and bug tracking. Used Make for build utility. - Applications were part of a three-tiered architecture system, utilizing CORBA for a distributed object model, Swing for GUI, RDBMS for persistent storage. - Exposure to J2EE including EJB, Servlets, and JDBC during proposal for next release of the system. - Chosen as the departmental delegate to attend JavaOne in San Francisco, returning to train and transfer knowledge to the developers.
