UPDATE - Winner must supply construction drawings for us to be able to construct the tent, with material lists. We have a spectacular location near Lake Powell Utah (Bullfrog) where we are going to be offering desert glamping. Glamping is upscale, or glamorous, camping. We would like to have a unique desert glamping design that will withstand wind (up to 100 mph), be relatively affordable to construct, and accentuate the specular scenery and magnificent stars that we have. The unit needs to accommodate a full-size bed and misc furniture. Some units may be fitted with bathrooms, while some may share bathrooms. Most of the locations have unobstructed views toward Bullfrog Bay and the WaterPocket Fold of Southern Capital Reef. We are very remote. Typical glamping units in southern Utah are canvas tents, tipi's or wagons. We would like something unique. I have included pictures of our location and a rough design idea that was hand sketched. Fascinating ideas that I have seen include WadiRumNight Full of Stars (balloon cabin), Autonomous Tent, and EarthBag Super Adobe designs. We are looking to have something designed that would be relatively easy to construct and tear down. There could be some permanent elements, especially if adobe is utilized. We are looking for a design that we can take and have built based upon your design. I would love to see a rendering on one of the photos with your design superimposed on the photo. We are also looking for a large gathering place that will serve as a checkin area and a central gathering spot. On the Glamping Site Map you can see that most locations views are to the west, but their access is from the east. Feel free to adjust even our site map if you have other ideas. We have over 70 acres to work with.

Right now we are flexible on size. Eventually 1/2 will have bathrooms, 1/2 won't. The common area would have gathering area for 20 or so guests. Food could be served there. Materials - likely aluminum or stucco. We are working with a 70 acre site, so I have lots of room, but the site is on a ridge, so units would face off of the ridge.
