I have an existing application, made with jquery/javascript/css.
The new code must lean towards javascript, unless jquery is required. The altering of the code must be reproducible with simple copy and pasting in 10 or 20 locations of the html/js/css.
Functionality needed:
1 if you open the file1/index.html
2 left click on the icon named "jump to (file2-lane1-step-n)"
3 trigger a javascript onclick event that parses the link to first verify that its text value is prefixed with "jump to ("
4 it must then open a new browser tab, to file2/index.html?step=lane1-step2&focus=no. interpret the last y as yes, and n as no.
5 in the tab, verify that file2 exist, lane1, and step2 all exist. if they dont, throw an error
6 in the tab, intepret the get "step=lane1-step2" parameter as a trigger to bring lane1-step2 into view, on page load. this should involve scrolling the screen down to the step, and highlighting the text or step or immediate area in yellow.
7 in the tab, intepret the "focus=yes" parameter to identify if step2 should be brought into focus.
file2 is meant to represent the directory/filename
lane1 is meant to represent any one of a dozen named values
step2 is meant to represent any one of a hundred named steps
If this new parameter is not passed, act normal as it does now
