Our company provides a service to mortgage brokers which, among other things, we provide real-time market pricing as well as the ability to allow our customers to create custom alerts which will notify them online or to a cell phone/pager when an alert is triggered. When a customer 'logs in', they are entered into our main website, and in addition, a second browser is launched which appears smaller, ca''ed the 'Alert Monitor'. It is the 'Alert Monitor' which shows them both real-time market pricing, as well as displays 'Alerts' when they are triggered. When an alert is triggered, the customer is required to hit an 'acknowledgement' button to confirm they received this alert. We receive market updates every 30 seconds from a data feed which are captured in the form of an Excel Spreadsheet, then posted to our site AND posted to the 'Alert Monitor'. We would like to have built an applet to use for this Alert Monitor, instead of having a second browser display it. We would like for customers to be able to have the applet running seperate from our website, and updating every minute with the correct market data. Very similar to the Datek Market Streamer (if you are familiar). When a customer log's off our site, the applet closes also.
