help with varnish 4 config to force all traffic over to https

We have a standard varnish for magento 2 which works great.. however, it will not forward traffic to https. Simple setup on a plesk based server.
Nginx accepts connection.. proxies to varnish which points to an apache backend.
We have tried various published fixes but no luck.
We will provide a demo VM with our typical setup for testing.
The solution will have to have minimum impact on Plesk setup (we currently manually edit [login to view URL] for the domain in question)
