Correcting some mistakes in a script on an existing website

My friend's dad has a very old website with a collection of his poems – [login to view URL]
The site is in Persian and English. On the Persian version there are a few mistakes when looking at the site from Explorer and Firefox. Some text is mirrored and there a some weird spacing in columns and margins. I think it will be a matter of implementing the correct charset but I am sure someone out there knows how to do it better than me. Please get in touch if so. Thank you.
