The project objective is to produce an interactive report to map relationships between entities (people, brands, etc), using Touchgraph.
With some Java skills this should be a piece of cake! Have a look at <[url removed, login to view]>.
The ultimate raw material for the process is some kind of record of a public debate, such as discussion forums or social network sites. I will refine the raw material to produce three matrices for the developer and a set of lookup files.
Matrix 1:
Row names: Names of entities (people, brands, etc) referred to in a text
Col names: Names of creators/authors
Cell: count of how many times each author referred to each entity
Matrix 2:
Row names: Names of entities (people, brands, etc) referred to in a text
Col names: Names of sources (for instance the name of a forum)
Cell: count of how many times each forum referred to each entity
Matrix 3:
Row names: Names of entities (people, brands, etc) referred to in a text
Col names: Names of other entities co-cited in same article
Cell: count of co-citations
The developer will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Using Touchgraph (web delivery) the developer should dynamically draw networks for each matrix. Sample source data will be provided, with additional attributes. The Touchgraph networks should use roll-over to show certain attributes, dynamically redraw the network when a node is clicked and simultaneously load, in a separate window, additional information associated with the node clicked on.
The developer should keep in mind that we will want to modify the application to use additional attributes and the design should be as versatile as possible, with clear comments and examples.
