XML Search and WordPress Plugin

Using an XML feed from a commercial source, create a search that will take input from a zip code input box and a drop down.

See the two short documents for how to work with the API and how to create tracking.

You can see a sample of a similar script working here, pulling the same data, and setup with all the parameters needed to run the script. In fact you can look at working the script, if you need to for ideas. But the script for this project needs to be written from the ground up.

**Initial Results:**

When a user first comes to the search page, initial page results should display only the Online programs.

**Result Categorization**

Categorize the results that are return between Online and Local. In other word, present the Online Degrees first and the Local Degrees second.

**Formatting of the Results**

Create two types of results. In the configuration be able to pick either one or the other.

1. The first set of results has already been formatted in CSS and can be seen here: [url removed, login to view]

2. The second set of results would be more like a traditonal search engine results, for instance, like Google.

**Limit Number of Results**

In the configuration file allow the number or results to be limited. Blank would be unlimited. 0 would be 0. 1 would be one result for Online and one result for Local, and so on.

**Define Degrees Listed in Drop Down Box**

In the configuration let the admin choose which degrees will show up in the drop down box. Present a listing of all degrees and by check box let the admin pick the degrees that show up in the drop down.

**Code Block for Displaying Results in Sidebars and Columns**

Provide a code block to show a number of results on a sidebar or a column of a page or post.

**Search Zip and Drop Down Types**

In addition to the input box for zip codes and a drop down for a page. Create one for the sidebar for this template [url removed, login to view]

URL Rewrites**

Create the script in such a way that URL rewrites are available.

**Display a Single Listing**

Create the code block to display a single Online or Zip listing. This would be used as a text ad to be place on a strategic part of a page like the way Google Adsense ads can be placed.

**Tracking**

See the document on tracking. There are two possible methods. Use only the simplest version of the tracking which puts this in front of the query string: [url removed, login to view]
