I need some help with Bank Recs since my current process is very manual I would need either a formula or macro to compare two workbooks Idea/Process Search the source data (bank record) for a matching dollar amount to the report (general ledger) If a match is found, highlight the amount on both the bank record and the general ledger green Then, pull the corresponding date within the row of the bank record over to the general ledger If a match is not found, highlight the amount on the source data red The ultimate step would be, for all the items that are highlighted in red on the source data (bank record) to run a second test to configure if there is a possibility of adding cells in together to match an amount in the general ledger If there is a possibility, highlight the cells blue and note the combination of cells or rows (I have a template that you insert the dollar amounts and it can configure the combination of cells if one exist) Then, whatever is left over and is not green or blue, I’d compile a list of showing that these are not reconcilable. One of the main issues I’m having is that there is no unique identifier and there are duplicates. There can be 5 transactions for $20.00 each and some functions like vlookup or index and match can’t get past that. What we know We can use the index and match function to find A matching amount and pull in the date column however, when you have duplicates in the source data, it will not pull the next duplicate item We can use conditional formatting to find the duplicate items and highlight them for us and also display the unique items We have a spreadsheet template that will configure the all the possible combinations to total an amount on general ledger – (blue items)
