Brief given about the project is a little too concise..once given an elaborate one I will be able to give a better idea about the timeline and and final deliverable.. Right now as per your brief it seems it can be done on excel as well as R ( a data analysis software). If you are not aware of R thats not a prob its a very simple free open source software with simple downloading and installation steps However more than software, knowledge of probability and permutation & combination seems more critical in this project which I am really good at.
