Dear Sir, I am perfect for this job. And this was the project I have in my mind as well. Following is my plan to execute your project: I will use TI CC2541 BLE chip, as I am familiar with it. And it will be less hassle for CE and FCC certification. Your dimensional constrain is OK. CR2016 is OK and can power up the CC2541 from 6 months to 1.5 years. However, it depends upon the uses! 1. We can place a buzzer in the tag device for easy locating. 2. Proximity link alarm at smartphone is ok. 3. Button on the tag is also ok I can design the Plastic mold as well. Molding locally or sourcing to China may be discussed later. If this tag is manufactured in volume. 3000pcs to 10000pcs then it will cost about 4 to 7USD. Hi, I work as a Senior Embedded Design Engineer. I have designed BLUETOOTH TRACKING SYSTEM and WIFI tracking system at my work place. I have also worked on BLUETOOTH TAGS. Hi there, I have designed a similar tag and can design one for you in the given size quite fast. As far as CE and FCC is concerned, time depends on LAB availability and also since you want to produce this, the certificate should be in your organizations name. Also please let me know full specs like battery life expected, Android or IOS support etc.. Distance measurement will not be accurate based on RSSI, but will be very coarse. Hello, My name is Chris Bethea. I have a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and eight years of industry experience, especially in the consumer sector. I also have prior experience using Bluetooth, and also am skilled in SolidWorks for the case design. I'm quite interested in your project and would like to ask a few questions about it. First, you say the tag has to be located using "approximate distance:" this would presumably be done using the Bluetooth signal strength indicator? This same indicator would then set off the "proximity alarm?" Finally, the button that causes the phone to ring and vibrate -- this would presumably be a signal picked up by a service running in the background of the phone. Is the development of the mobile phone service software included in the project, or will that be done by someone else/yourself? I hope to have the chance to work with you on this project.
