Here are some tasks that have to be solved:
1) A Single Input-Single Output (SISO) process is described a difference equation.
1a) Determine the parameters (Input/output measurements were taken from aprocess, stored in a Matlab file).
1b) Can this model (difference equation) be used for a first order DC electric motor speed control system? Give an example.
1c) Outline the main differences between the ARX, ARMA and ARMAX process models used for system identification applications?
Which of these process modelsare used here? (Max. 1 page for answer)
1d) Apply the Least squares program (provided in matlab file) to estimate the parameters of the discrete time system (equation).
Add the necessary discrete to continuous conversion commands and determine the approximate values of the parameters of the continuous time system that was used to produce the datain the Matlab file, with a 0.2 sec sampling time.
2) Discrete and continuous PID controller comparison
Discretise the PID controller (kp = 1 ; Ki =1; Kd = 1) and configure the system
G(s)= 10/[(s+1)(s+2)] as a sampled data closed loop system e.g. the system is continuous and the controller is discrete, with use being made of a zero-order hold. Compare the performance of the discrete PID with the continuous time PID. Describe the findings.
