Calling Webservice in asp.net

I wish to write vb.net code to consume a web service on an aspx page. I have already written the code for synchronous calling. It's is just couple of lines. However I need it such that it does it asynchronously (it loads other data of the page, and then displays the data of the web service when it receives it) I have the sample code and help links to get started. I would like it in Vb.net though conversion from C# should not be difficult. This is rather small task however I have put a high amount because I want to get it done ASAP. Since this is a generic web service implementation, it would be good if coder can show demo or expertise.
