DESIGN A BUSINESS LOGO

I need a logo and font for our new residential and commercial solar business. We want it to have a big business/strong, yet approachable feel, and be versatile enough that potentially down the road we could use it for some other types of side business we'll offer, by maybe adding to the base logo with "cute" little icons/word accents. I think we are looking at RGB that could easily be converted to CMYK if needed down the road. Right now it is for print (marketing, proposals, invoices, etc.), but we will want it to easily convert to polo-shirts and blown up to use on our trucks. We also need to think of affordability of the actual products we will be printing downt he road (with the colors/files provided). We like the attached file that is someone else's art (the earth marble), so are interested in doing something similar, or are open to creative ideas. We want to try to make it obvious we do solar/energy at a glance without getting gimmicky or too busy... which is why we aren't sure about the sketch idea also included.
