Good day! I'd like to help you to solve this task. Matlab has some subtle difference related to handling arrays(vectors) and matrix. Sometimes implementing 'for' and 'while'loops in the way we would do it in C or Java is not the best way we could do it for Matlab. This is called 'Vectorize' the operations.
