This small Linux system administration job is to configure a recent Ubuntu intranet server to accept SSH logins using an external existing LDAP server. The server should accept new logins, create the homedir automatically, be basically maintenance free for new users.

I already had such experiences doing such tasks. According to your problem statement, I presume that I have to install a LDAP server and configuring a server that will authenticate ssh logins from that installed LDAP server. Later on, you could feed the user details into LDAP server, using ldapphpadmin, web interface for LDAP server. I am confident that I will be able to fulfil this task within 5 days.
