Android ROM / Firmware - IoT application

--- This project is for contractor or firms with demonstrated experience doing Custom Android ROM and custom Android Firmware, see full description below --- We are looking to use android smartphones as sensor devices for an IoT application. We want to create a custom ROM for it. Right now we have an Android native app that enables us to do that (run device sensors and send data to a server) but we would like to further integrate the app into the device firmware. At a high level the the ROM should behave like a proprietary firmware. When the user first start the device it should follow the a setup process and open our app, we will provide wireframe and design. We need a high quality firmware that will achieve our business needs to offer a no hassle, seamless experience to our users. We has shortlisted 3 devices that could work for us. We will make our final decision with the contractor based on his experience. Key behaviors required: - Remote restart of the device - Restart automatically on crash (e.g. if app goes unresponsive) - Ability to manage Date/Time (automatically or manually) - Ability to manage updates: push new versions of the ROM or the app to the device (so we can fix bugs or push security patches if needed) - Manage WIFI - Manage Mobile connection - Manage memory (e.g clear cache) - if needed - App should be set such that if app is left on home screen without activities, the device should go to sleep mode with app running in the background - Unrequired android processes should be prevented to run to save on battery and memory Quality Assurance: - The device should run for months without human intervention. We will set the bar to 2 weeks for testing purpose. - The device should offer all the same functionalities as we have now. We will test all functionalities (current and new) and make sure they behave properly. - Make sure that the app behave properly in all cases (no WIFI) and has proper recovery/fallback - Design branding guidelines should be respected (we will provide) What will SensorFocus provide: - The source code of the APK - Branding guidelines - Design wire frames - API endpoints (you will need to tell us how to set the calls for elements like device restart and updates) - Budget to purchase one of the selected device. If device is damaged the developer will have to get a new one at his own expense. What will the contractor provide: - Custom ROM, installation script, Changes to the app (Setup process and Settings, we provide the rest), UI design changes - Source code for the following (we will create a GIT repository) - Original code base used (the starting point) - Final version with version tracking - Build config and instructions (including all libraries required to build the file on our side if needed) - Script, software and instruction to run flash devices with “one click” - Source code of the script
