Courier Automation System

Client is a Courier Service company having more then 350 branches in all over India. There is exchange of approx.50,000 documents per day from single branch. To manage this bulky transactions and easy operation in optimized manner, it is required to automate the processes. But seeing the size and complexity it is decided to start with the basic and urge requirement of managing Inward, Outward and Shipper operations as this contributes the major portion of business. To accomplish the above requirements, system "Courier Automation System" is developed. This system manages one time creation (masters for stations, rates, credit parties, agents, cargo parties, rates, AT charges, delivery charges, service tax) and transactions (receiving packets from cargo parties/local booking agents, Inward entry, Outward entry, Shipper entry, Outward manifest generation). To allow permissible rights to different users, a flexibility to grant permissions on functionalities is also provided. Users has to login to work on the application. On user authentication, applications behave as per the assigned rights to logged-in user. System generates various daily, weekly and monthly reports on screen. Reports are master data report, Inward manifest, outward manifest, Daily cash summary, credit summary, cargo summary, monthly transshipment charges, Party Invoices, Local Booking agent commission, etc. System also provides Inward-Outward and Outward-Shipper comparison on daily basis. This helps the client to cross check what comes in and doesn't go out. System provided dos base and window base mode printing. To achieve this a tool is developed which allows for printing of reports on 80 and 130 columns dos printers. Tool allows the users to set the default printer, set height/width/margins of the report as well as start and end of the printing pages. These settings are customizable for each user. System provides a facility to generate reports either in Text mode or as an Excel file. User can set this in the above Report Generation Tool. As the transaction runs into thousands, a robust archival and retrieval system has been designed to take care of the data. This helps in keeping a manageable database size leading to optimization in speed and efficiency. Responsibilities Development and Testing
