AJAX onpage control over a mysql variable through a php file...

Hello. I have several buttons in a table that when you click on each one of them a check image in the next column turns on or off (selecting or deselecting the row)(the buttons are part of a table that requests info from a mysql database, and it's length depends on the number of mysql results). I had the script made with php and mysql, but since I needed another form to post data to that page and couldn't refresh I'm now stuck with ajax. The info from mysql has to be requested and sent without reloading the page. Onclick of each of the buttons (all of them work independently selecting each on a single row) they should change a binary value on the mysql table. This value is connected to the turning on and off of the image and should change the binary value so the selected rows can be exported to a csv file. The primary key in the mysql table is ‘keyword’ since this is a SEO application. In [login to view URL] I use the string $keyword to take on ‘keyword’ from mysql table and use it to fill the rows in the table. The problem with this is probably that I don’t know when to use $keyword and when to use ‘keyword’ Hope this describes well the project.
