BPM Counter or a beat detector

I have for a long time search the net for BPM counter or a beat detector detecting mp3 output... I current use the BASS library [login to view URL] and are very pleased with that library. I have tried making a beatdetector using the FFT data from BASS, but without luck... Are there anybody outthere that have skills or maybe some code we can share...
