I have an MP3 from an emergency training meeting. A friend who is an academic researcher wants to analyze the discussion, and I suggested we hire a transcriptionist from Rentacoder. The researcher want to transcribe one particular speaker. The microphone was close to him, so he is very easy to hear, and other speakers can be ignored. The output needs to be in an MS Word file. Bids on a word count basis are preferred. Start and stop times for the speaker should be included, at the 1-second level. Additional notes are posted in an attachment. Important facts: 1) The MP3 is 2 hours long. 2) The speaker of interest speaks for about 20-30% of the time. 3) The primary speaker has a Midwestern accent, but is very easy to understand. 4) The quality of the recording is very good. 5) Occasionally some common technical terms are mentioned, such as SWAT team and sulphuric acid. If these are unknown, please note it in the text. This is our first time to use RAC, and are open to suggestions on the bid structure (e.g. a bonus for rapid turnaround or exceptional quality). If the quality and price are compelling, significant amounts of future work will be available. Additional information: The project described above is for an academic researcher. The recording is from a normal planning conversation, so the pace is slower than for a prepared speech. [12/3, 11:18PT]
