Anti-Spam Outlook COM Add-In

Anti-spam company wants a COM Add-in for Microsoft Outlook 2002/2002 running on Windows 98/Me/2K/XP to help users see how we marked messages and to adjust their anti-spam settings if they wish. On reception of each message, the add-in should examine the message for a header line of the following form: X-Msgfire: STATUS URL where STATUS is either "JUNK" or "MAIL" indicating spam or valid mail, respectively, and URL is a url that the user can go to if they want to adjust their settings relative to this message. (e.g. If they thought it was spam and we thought it was valid, or vice versa) When the message is displayed, the add-in should display to the user an indication of whether we thought the message was good or junk. That indication may be a text string, a small icon (~32x32) or both. Our graphic designer will provide any graphics you might need, and will have final review on look-and-feel issues. Additionally, when the message is displayed, the add-in should provide to the user (probably on the message display window and/or in the application menus) a way to change settings for that message and/or report that the message was misidentified. When the user pushes that button or selects that menu item (or whatever), the add-in should launch the user's preferred internet browser and point it to the url listed in the X-MSGFIRE header. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. PLEASE NOTE: The completed program must be digitally signed. Messagefire will obtain and provide the security certificate. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. Installation package must complete all these steps: a) Preserve the user's current POP server setting and email account name setting somewhere for possible use in the uninstall process. b) Change the user's POP server setting so that messages are retrieved from [login to view URL] c) Change the user's email account name setting so that it includes their full domain. (i.e. if user's account settings say the login name is 'sally' and they receive their mail at '[login to view URL]', it should be changed to 'sally@[login to view URL]'.) The service requires this for login. c) Install the add-in and configure it for use in Outlook. d) Add a message filter setting in Outlook such that any message with a header of "X-Msgfire: JUNK" goes into a new folder named "Junk" on reception. Create the Junk folder if necessary. e) Leave behind an uninstall program that will put everything back the way it was. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. ## Platform Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2000 running on: Windows 98 Windows Me Windows 2000 Windows XP Home Windows XP Professional
