This project is for the writing of a consumer guide to UK Bailiffs and Debt Collectors, it will include researching the subject both from a legal perspective and from news articles, blogs, documentaries and other sources.
The main aim of the guide is to show how everyone is vulnerable to an unexpected knock at the door by Bailiffs followed by a demand for money that you may or may not realise you owe and the threat of having your assets seized on the spot if you don’t pay.
The guide should outline the latest powers given to Bailiffs and what can happen if you try to stop them performing their duties.
The guide should also feature around 20 different fictional scenarios or short stories based in actual events or on the legal powers of Bailiffs and should cover everything from the vulnerable relative you may have inadvertently allowing them into your home to corporate scenarios where the Bailiff may be threatening to stop an important event or process by seizing necessary items. There is no shortage of real life events to base these scenarios or stories on.
The guide will be published as an A4 format perfect bound guide and given to our clients as part of our service and marketing strategy. We offer a unique service protecting the Consumer and Business from Bailiffs so it is important that the guide shows the vulnerability of the Consumer and Business.
The proposed guide should include but not limited to the following sections
1. Introduction, outlining who is vulnerable to Bailiff Visits including the Middle Classes, Professionals, Judges, Solicitors, Businesses and others you would not generally expect.
2. A brief history of the origins of UK bailiffs
3. The different types of UK Bailiffs and Debt Collectors
4. The powers given to each type of Bailiff and Debt Collector
5. Bailiffs tricks of the trade, how they seek to widen their power over you.
6. Scenarios as described above
7. What goods can a bailiff seize
8. What goods cannot be seized by the bailiff
9. What goods Bailiffs like to seize, the softest target is your vehicle.
10. How many and what value of your goods will be seized (10% of new value)
11. What happens to your goods when seized and how little they will be sold for.
12. What to do if you are expecting a visit by Bailiffs
13. What to do if Bailiffs have arrived at your Door
14. What to do if Bailiffs are in your house or premises
15. The cost of a typical bailiff visit for a parking ticket, council tax etc. showing how your bill can escalate from a few pounds to hundreds or thousands without you even knowing.
The overall size of this project is undetermined but I would guess around the 40k word mark and therefore bidding on this project should be per thousand words of meaningful text. If you are biding you must demonstrate that you have read the whole specification and that you have experience in this type of writing. If you send a sample of your style in pdf or word format that will go a long way towards winning the project.
