Task 2 – A Critical Review of an Academic Journal Article (40%) Your task is to review and evaluate an academic journal paper in 1,250 words. The particular paper will be supplied to you by the module leader: Your critical review should include the following: • A brief understanding of the article - What are the objectives of the research? Why is it important? How was the research conducted? What were the main findings? • A critique of the article – How relevant and credible is the article? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the methodology applied in this research? Are there limitations of the research? Is the research biased? NOTE: All points made need to be supported with evidence. • A compare and contrast with TWO other relevant academic journal articles – How are these articles relevant to the original article? What are these two articles about? How are they similar/different to the original article? How is the methodological approach taken stronger/weaker than that of the original article? NOTE: All points made need to be supported with evidence. • You will also receive marks for the quality and structure of your academic writing – Is the structure clear and logical? Has the PEEL approach been used? Are there spelling/grammatical errors? Has Harvard Referencing been used correctly?
