Hello, I don't think that it is related to with mouse hooks possible that way too but not best, what I think that needs to be monitored is rather files access. That is done usually by antiviruses for example, but doing it at low level would be quite complicated, prone to errors, need to separate handling of the cases for 32/64bit architectures, etc so for sure outside of the purpose of a small project. What I could make you fast: using API hooking and some good library like the Nektra Deviare ones the open source version of In-Process, monitor any handle of files with given extensions that are taken by any process, and put them to a small app in c# eventually, done as described on link. But if you need to count only when a file is used by a given media player not by any application(a file explorer would access those files too) then it needs to be extended to monitoring player processes and what they do. Hi, I'm experienced in C# programming and WCF technology. I could finish this project in 2 days. It will be service application with GUI done in WPF technology where list of files should be implemented as datagrid with paging. I already have usable old code and with little change it should be done quickly, 2 days deadline is set just in case. When application is run for the first time there is no txt file with data so my question is: is there a need to look into windows registry for recently opened files and then use that information to fill the table?
