I have worked in the manufacturing industry, where I learnt that however radical a design is, it has to be manufacturable/machinable. However, since you're going to be using 3D printing, my artistic design capabilities can be allowed to go just that much further, within your 3D printer's constraints and your measurement constraints, of course.
