C# datagridview data table with foreign key

I'm creating a program to display, add, remove, and edit mySQL database tables and need help with one specific aspect of my program. I need a C# method which populates a datagridview from a mySQL data source, and displays and edits foreign key values with descriptive columns from the associated table using column combobox. Edited values selected from the combo box must stay bound so database updates are possible. Initial combox state must be obtained from the foreign key. Everything must be done in runtime ... no form design wizards. I have no problem populating the datagridview from a data table, edit the columns, and writting back to the database. My problem is I can't get the column combobox to work correctly. You would think is is a very common (and should be easy) task for the datagridview but even exhaustive web searches have been no help. I'm hoping someone has gone through this and is very comfortable and effiecient at providing a solution. I can provide exisiting code and database schema. It would be helpful to also design the form to use "MS Access" style controls to add and delete table rows.
