I am looking for someone knowledgeable with BOOTP and DHCP protocols. I am running Windows 10 on a laptop. I get the feeling my computer(s) are workstations on someone's server. I would like someone to explain to me why BOOTP is running, and to which server it is sending the information. I believe I understand the basic concept of the BOOTP protocol but it is not anything that I installed on my system(s). With this project I am not requesting you to fix, or repair anything. I simply want to know which server this BOOTP protocol is connecting with.

Hello, I'd like to help you with your project and I believe the easiest solution for you is to install the Wireshark application and and just look at the traffic generated from your station to the BOOTP server. Both DHCP and BOOTP use the same protocols for sending and receiving messages between clients and servers. So you should filter out the 67th port and see who's communicating with whom :) It should be easy enough. If you can't manage it on your own I'm sure you will find someone to set you straight. I can clear thing up, we can talk over skype or just write. - BootP is very old and is today replaced by dhcp in almost every environment.
