The brief is to match , advise and select and source a DC motor which will be coupled to a fan blade, powered only by a photovoltaic solar panel. The product will be used to extract hot air from the roof cavity of a residential house. The housing of the fan, photovoltaic panels and DC motor is not part of the brief. Ideal experience should include an understanding of air extraction by fan where blade and motor characteristics will be important. The intended overall purpose of the design is to install the selected solar photovoltaic, motor and fan blade within a moulding or housing. The device will then be installed in the roof and assist in extracting hot air from the roof cavity on a hot day. Ideally, on a moist winter day the device can extract damp moist air. Essentials of the Brief is to develop a system which will maximises the time the fan is effective, rather than focus on the maximum air extraction over only a small peak sunlight part of the day. I have been working on DC PV systems regarding rural electrification in Africa, and have access to manufacturers of DC Fans , DC Motors and Customised Round Solar Panels that would meet the needs of such a design project. It is a simple concept and have already implemeted similar systems utilising DC Motors to run Ceiling fans in Africa. Need to use a switching regulator to convert the power from solar panel to fix output to run the fan at its highest efficiency. What air flow rate are looking for? I will review the output performance of different types of solar panels Select a motor based on performance to run as long possible. You need this to be finished to a PCB layout? Feel happy to contact me to discuss any details. I have done some design work, but mostly RMA repairs on various equipment. And have seen a lot design mistakes. I have also seen what lasts and what doesn't.
