Bulk Thumbnail Creator

What I need done is have a program either via desktop application or via a web server to be able to load a list of websites and mass-create a thumbnail for the websites, their websites that are not hosted on my server. The list will be in the following format Google, [login to view URL] Yahoo, [login to view URL] MyWebsite, [login to view URL] Website5, [login to view URL] etc. It must NOT error out with a "$" symbol for the first character in the name. If the program is web server based, it must create and store them on the server in a folder so I can just download the folder. If being run on a web server, it must not have to run "on" the server via remote desktop. It must be able to be run on a shared web server hosting package. If it's a desktop application it must save the files locally. It is preferred to save the images/thumbnails in PNG format. The thumbnail must ONLY be the website, and NOTHING MORE.
