Book Price Comparison Engine

Create in PHP/MySQL a Book Price Comparison Engine that queries multiple merchants for pricing and presents sorted data for the visitor. (see [login to view URL] for an example, only the subsection for books). ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased. 4) More details: - Create and deliver code in PHP/NuSOAP/XML/MySQL; - Setup 6 merchants into the price comparison engine; - Provide documentation about how to add or remove stores; - Grant ownership and copyrights for the software. - (I will do the HTML to fit the results into my website.) Functionality - For a complete example, see www.addall.com. We want the same functionality, only for books, no other products. - Using PHP, send SOAP request to Amazon to obtain a list of books based on the visitor’s search criteria. - Next, send SOAP and XML requests to the merchant sites listed (see below) and cache the results in MySQL. - Then select all relevant data from the database and sort by total price. - In addition, some merchants provide their pricing via ftp, so the program needs to be able to parse comma-delimited or XML files and insert them into MySQL for a future query (on a cronjob nightly). - Ideally, create separate tables for merchants, cached book prices, and ftp’d book prices. Assumptions - Buyer will provide programmer with all development toolkits for Amazon, and other merchants. - Buyer will provide all HTML code and images necessary. - The code and the entire engine MUST be fast and powerful enough to handle thousands of daily visitors. Constraints - None Future Possibilities - If all work is completed satisfactorily, then buyer would use the programmer again to add merchants to the price comparison engine, and add more functionality to the engine and the main website. ## Platform Unix/Linux PHP using MySQL
