Desktop and/or web app for the market research industry...

You will be working on an authoring tool for the market research industry. The size and scope of the project is equivalent to MS Word and Excel - not necessarily in functionality (though some features may be similar between them) but more so in terms of the size of the project. The tool will allow for the creation of various objects and also allow the user to connect these objects or nodes by allowing each node to reference other nodes in a dynamic and logical way. Think of the way that one Excel cell can reference others, but with more complex relationships. The software would then output multiple types of files - primarily in XML. The UI and UX here is paramount, so we definitely need someone with good experience with that. Our target audience involves people who have basic to intermediate computer skills and who use MS Word/Excel on a frequent basis. We have not yet decided whether we want this to be a desktop app or a web app, and that would largely depend on the UI capabilities/limitations of web apps. We may want to do both - if not right away, down the line, after starting with the desktop app. Our current platform of choice is Python, though we are open to other suggestions as well. English fluency is a must. Market research exposure or experience is a plus.
