500767 Need help creating htaccess url rewrite for directory

I just need someone to answer the issue below. Need this done tonight somehow. I need to modify the htaccess with a url rewrite so that the following occurs, keep in mind I need url rewrite not a 301 redirect, customers cannot see that this is really happening (i want clean urls to be shown). Current url structure: [login to view URL] Need the above changed to: [login to view URL] I need it so that any files within the /files/cars directory can be accessed just by entering in /cars..
