I am looking for a freelancer to design a battery charger with schematics and a PCB. The charger needs to have a low voltage cutout and shutdown notification feature.
Design done on KiCad or in Proteus. Design files needed.
Requirements:
- Input voltage range: 15V-24V
- Battery type: Lead Acid
- Additional features: Overcharge protection
The charger should use CC, then bulk, then float.
It will operate at higher temperatures (typical 45degC)
It should take battery temperature in concideration to prevent overcharging
The supply voltage is typically 24V and 2 diodes should connect the load so that power transfer is automatic when 24V falls away.
Need to have fuses etc to ensure safe operation
Load can opperate down to 10V and up to 32V
Battery will be 7 or 14Ah 12V lead acid
A small 12 to 24V stepup DC-DC is needed (to power an 24V relay - 50mA) This can run permanently from the output side of the battery - but need to be disconnected with the load to prevent battery from over discharge.
Battery should be able to supply up to 2A under load.
Once low battery desision is made to cut the load an indication must be given (load on the signal is 24V into an opto coupler) the load should have at least another 30s to complete its shutdown. The load will then be disconnected for at least 15 seconds before it may be powered again even if the 24V supply returns in that time. -i.e. load disconnecting replay should be after the point where the 2 supplies join.
PCB smaller than 100mmx80mm.
Battery state indication. charging CC, Bulk, float, 24V, estimate of battery charge (5 LEDs) - This is open for discussion on best way to do this. Also indicate when shutdown is initiated and when it is done.
Components must be readily available from digikey / Mouser and PCB must be JLCPCB compattable
KICAD or proteus for the design.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Experience in battery charger design
- Knowledge of schematics and PCB design
- Familiarity with low voltage cutout and shutdown notification systems
- Understanding of lead acid batteries and their charging requirements
- Ability to incorporate overcharge protection into the design
- Attention to detail and ability to create clear and concise schematics and PCB layouts
