STEP 1
1. Go to [login to view URL]
2. In the Enter a Website URL field, enter URL of the company listed in the excel spreadsheet provided
3. Select San Jose, CA USA from the dropdown Test Location field
4. Do not change the Browser field, it should be IE 7
5. Do not change the Connection field, it should be DSL (1.5 Mbps/384 Kbps 50ms RTT)
6. Do not change the Number of Test to Run, it should be 1
7. Do not change Repeat View, it should be First View and Repeat View
8. Do not select Keep Test Private
9. In the Label field, enter the name of the company
10. Select the gray Video tab underneath the Advanced Settings section
11. Select Capture Video
12. Select the yellow Start Test button on the top right hand side of the page
(NOTE: you may run multiple tests at a time. While you are waiting for the test to complete, open another browser window and start a new test)
13. After the test results appear, click on Watch Video in the Video column and the First View row of the next table
14. Copy the URL of the video page into the excel spreadsheet provided
15. Do this for all companies listed as Originals and Competitors and then proceed to STEP 2
There are ROUGHLY 500 websites to do this for.
STEP 2
1. From the data you entered in the excel spreadsheet in above step, select the two video URLs that will be compared (Original and its Competitor listed BELOW)
Example:
Original: [login to view URL]
Competitor: [login to view URL]
2. Select the ID in each URL - the ID is the number and letters after “id=” and before “1.0” in each URL
Example:
Original: 110125_RM_1K5B
Competitor: 110127_CX_1VJJ
3. Using the two IDs, create a new URL, using the following method
a. Start with: [login to view URL]
b. Add competitor ID: 110127_CX_1VJJ
c. Add comma: ,
d. Add Original ID: 110125_RM_1K5B
e. Finished URL should look like:
[login to view URL] ,110125_RM_1K5B
Note: The Original ID always come after the competitor’s ID, and is separated by a comma . Make sure you do not add any spaces in the URL.
4. Paste the newly created URL into a web browser
5. In the page that appears, click Create Video
6. A new webpage will open which shows the videos, side-by-side
7. Select the URL of this new webpage
8. Paste the URL into the excel document. See attached Excel document for example.
You should be creating ROUGHLY 250 new video URLs
