The MatLab model for direction finding will estimate the impact of differences in elevation (between sensor nodes and target emitter) in computing the geo-location accuracy when using 3 TDOA Sensors. Specifically, the model will be help answer the question: At what differences in elevation between sensors and an identified target emitter will geo-location accuracy suffer, if elevation data is not utilized in estimating the geo-location of the emitter The following assumptions will be used in developing the model: Implement the Ellipsoid TDoA method and Cross Correlation Technique for estimating Time Difference of Arrival. Path loss propagation model for dense urban, suburban and rural regions. Space Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) 1 Arc-Second Global Digital Elevation Data Applicable for Broadcast UHF/VHF Frequency Bands The model will simulate Geolocation Accuracy with ability to change the following scenarios: 1. Distance between TDOA sensors and target emitter 2. Elevation difference between TDOA sensors and target emitter Both the above cases, should at a minimum be run under the following conditions: Dense Urban and Rural setting

Given only 3 TDOA sensors, there will be some ambiguity between conjugate (?) points above and below the plane of the sensors. But I assume that is not an issue in this regard. Also it may be fair to assume (please correct me if I am wrong) that the error in the measurements of time or distance from the sensors would have a normal distribution. I would like to start by reviewing some of the literature and other reference materials that you may have. Following that I will create a base model for our work which should simulate the TDOA network. This model wil be used as a basis for adding other paramters and variations such as the Global Digital Elevation Data you mention. all of this should take a week. Maybe less.
