Task: - Using XML API provided develop a control/monitoring application for home automation device. -Smart plug – home automation/control device which measure electricity usage connected to it and send data to monitoring device (PC/mobile devices) We need to develop an application to monitor and control a smartplug device with the required functionalities specified below. The smart plugs are connected to the home wifi network through a gateway. The device manufacturing company has an application available for desktop, web, and mobile platforms for download. For advance users they have provided all the XML API’s to develop their own application. We need to develop an application which is very similar to the company provided app but with few additional functionality. The hardware used is a ZBMplug15 as smart plug. [login to view URL] Attached the screenshot of the desktop app that we use right now In the image the LCD TV, Ceiling fan and Washing Machine are connected to 3 different smart plugs. It shows if the device is ON or OFF state and also display the power (kw) and energy(kwh) readings. By clicking the ON/OFF button we can control the device. What we require:- In the application that needs to be developed we need the exact same features as above app with the power/energy readings displayed on a graph also. (Right now as you can see only kw/kwh numbers are displayed and we need a graph plot). That’s it ! For your reference an example python script is also provided which uses the above API to get the data. you can also modify this to make the required feature. right now the python script gives the Data in excel file. we wanted a live graph plotting of that data. thats our initial requirement (first milestone requirment). Hi, My Understanding about your Project Requirement: I have gone through your project requirement and got to know that I have to retrieve home automation information through XML APIs. After retrieving the information from XML APIs and it should be shown in the desktop application. So I have to develop desktop application to show all the power information, state (ON/OFF) of devices in the application. Also the graphical plot for power/energy consumption over the time. Application development Approach: I can develop desktop application using C# .Net in WPF, where I can show very intuitive graphical plot along with basic details like power and state of the device. I have good experience in working with graphical plot and can complete your project in a neat manner. As suggested by you, I can start with graphical plot and then work on showing basic home automation information. Few queries to clarify about project, 1. Does desktop application should be supported to all OS(Windows, Mac and Linux) ?. If it has to be supported for all the OS then I cannot develop in C# .Net. In that case, I will develop application in python. 2. I don't see the excel sheet and image file attached. Please share the documents. 3.
