Denial of service attack testing and mitigation

I have a testbed that I’m conducting a denial of service experiment The tasks are: - simulate a syn flood attack ( two scenarios -using one ip and also multiple IPs) - implement rate limiting and test to see if good traffic is accepted and bad traffic is limited - implement an IDS/IPS as an alternate mitigation tool and test if good traffic is accepted and bad traffic is limited I would like the assistance of someone with experience in the above to help me with this project. Help can be advice, troubleshooting and educational.
