Project Scenario: My consulting firm D & F Oil International (DFOIL) just hired you as a project manager. Your first project is to build a website. The website is to allow companies/families to list oil assets for sale, and to allow buyers to identify assets for purchase. Imagine it as a Multiple Listing Service for oil fields. The website will allow oil field owners to list the specifics of their assets, including region, oil , so investors can read through the specifics, conduct business analysis, and submit their initial purchase inquires. We would like to name the website www.OilforSale.com. The website should do the following:  • Allow sellers to list the specifics of their oil fields, including the expected reserve, etc; • Allow sellers to pull up a report on interested buyers of their asset; • Allow buyers sign up for membership that provide access to the listings; • Allow membership buyers to search oil properties by region, field type, etc; • Allow email marketing capacity to email registered users and potential users; • List our firm’s capability in providing advisory service; • To allow sellers and buyers inquire about our firm’s advisory service; • Allow us to view reports on the online activities and data. From the past experience, we estimated that this project will take about 3 months and cost about $120,000. Please use the knowledge and tools learned in this class and refer to the templates used in your group projects to do the following: 1. Create a Project Scope Statement on this project; (file attached) 2. Create a Work Breakdown Structure of the project, assign resources to the tasks, assign costs to the resources, establish a project baseline, and mark all milestones in MS Project; 3. Produce a project status report after the first month (Please assume that not all items are at 100% completion rate at the planned completion time). More things about a status report: 1. It should have a title and reporting date 2. It should start with a summary of the overall status of the project 3. Schedule status & budget status are the two most important factors: Are we on budget? Are we on schedule? 4. It also should contain a snapshot of the main aspects of a project: which phase we are currently on; how many people are on staff now; what the next steps are 5. Report any major events that may/ may have impacted the budget and schedule 6. Highlight what you might need me, the business owner of this small firm, to know and to make decisions on 7. All data / charts should only be used to illustrate your main points. • Please use MS Word for your status report and scope statement, use .mpp file for your WBS • Please submit ALL your deliverables during the same submission.
